Wisconsin Public Television and the UW-Madison School of Education to Host Click Youth Media Festival

On Saturday, June 30, the Click Youth Media Festival in Madison, hosted by Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) and the UW-Madison School of Education, will bring more than 70 youth and educators from around the state together for a full day of workshops on video production, podcasting and digital storytelling.

Wisconsin Hometown Stories: Eau Claire Premiere Screening at State Theatre June 22

Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) invites the community to a free premiere screening of the new public television documentary Wisconsin Hometown Stories: Eau Claire on Friday, June 22 at the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center's State Theatre. A reception with light snacks and coffee will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the screening of the hour-long program at 7:30 p.m.

Wisconsin Public Television to Film Madeline Island Chamber Music for Four Days in June

This summer, Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) will film Madeline Island Chamber Music, including three concerts at The Clubhouse in La Pointe on Madeline Island. Tickets are now available for the live concerts, which will later air on WPT as part of an hour-long program on Madeline Island Chamber Music. Filming will also include student interviews and an informal concert at Bell Street Gallery on Madeline Island.

Quilts Being Sought for 2018 Quilt Expo Quilt Contest

There is still time to enter this year's 10-category juried and judged 2018 Quilt Expo Quilt Contest. Quilters are invited to enter up to four quilts in the contest, which awards cash prizes for best of show, first-, second- and third-place honors in each of the 10 categories, and a viewers' choice award, selected from the entries by Quilt Expo attendees. Quilt Contest entries must be submitted by June 30.

UW Varsity Band Returns to WPT for Annual Spring Concert May 5

With dazzling lights, advanced pyrotechnic effects, a flying bandleader and all of the favorite Badger songs, the University of Wisconsin Varsity Band returns to Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) 7 p.m. Saturday, May 5, for the annual spring concert. Under the direction of Michael Leckrone, this year's show, "Celebrating 100 Years in Camp Randall," commemorates the UW Band legacy with Badger spirit favorites, energetic medleys and special guest artists.

Madison Teacher Selected for Inaugural PBS Digital Innovator All-Star Program

Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) has announced David Olson — a social studies teacher from James Madison Memorial High School in Madison — as one of 30 educators from across the country for the first PBS Digital Innovator All-Star Program. Each of the Digital Innovator All-Stars was selected from a cohort of extraordinary educators who are doing innovative work in their schools and districts, and were previously recognized as part of the PBS Digital Innovator Program, which began in 2013. The PBS Digital Innovator All-Star program expands on this influential work, deepening these educators' roles as leaders in integrating technology and digital media into the classroom – supporting students' learning through increasingly important media literacy skills.

Bolz Young Artist Competition Finale Broadcasts on WPT March 14

Four of Wisconsin's most talented young musicians will perform in concert with the Madison Symphony Orchestra (MSO) as Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) and Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) offer broadcast coverage of Wisconsin Young Artists Compete: The Final Forte. Tribal Histories Programs Explore the Stories of the Sovereign Nations in Wisconsin

Storytellers from each of the 11 sovereign nations located in Wisconsin — and one nation whose sovereign status is no longer recognized by the federal government — share the unique histories of their people and communities in the Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) series of Tribal Histories documentaries. Each nation's history is explored in individual 30-minute programs. The three final programs from the series — featuring representatives from the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe, Mole Lake Ojibwe and St. Croix Ojibwe — air on WPT 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Dec. 14, 21 and 28, and will also be available to stream online at wpt.org.

As the Wisconsin State Capitol marks its centennial, Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) will premiere a new documentary on the history, architecture and cultural significance of the iconic statehouse. Our House: The Wisconsin Capitol premieres on WPT and Milwaukee PBS 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27. The program will have an encore presentation on WPT 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 and will be available to stream online at wpt.org shortly after the broadcast premiere.
