Opportunities

The use of media to enhance teaching and learning complements traditional approaches to learning. Using media engages students, aids student retention of knowledge, motivates interest in the subject matter, and illustrates the relevance of many concepts. By providing cost-free instructional resources for classrooms and educators, we can deliver fresh ideas and inspiration to teach our children boldly.

I love using Wisconsin Biographies for my students. They learn all about various types of Wisconsin people. I could not teach this unit without these resources.

How we Work

Our team of talented educators and media specialists provide unique local content, cost-free classroom resources, and host community events that spark curiosity and learning. With our mass-media reach we deliver the best of PBS KIDS and contribute to PBS LearningMedia, supporting the most trusted content in America. From early learners to college/career readiness, PBS Wisconsin Education plays a unique and vital role in Wisconsin’s educational ecosystem.

Our Impact

The learning landscape has shifted significantly over the past several years. Learning is now multi-platform and multi-dimensional. The classroom is no exception, requiring that PBS Wisconsin continue to develop and test new ways of delivering its content. The Focus Fund for Education has helped made possible projects such as Meet the Lab, a collection of free educational resources introducing students to relevant real-world issues and cutting edge research, and Wisconsin Biographies, which offer engaging animated videos, downloadable e-books and historical image galleries.
